Welcome to the Hand to Heart Project, a platform for sharing parenting experiences and related resources operated by Hand to Heart Project Limited. NZBN9429050538355 (“we”, “us” or “our”).

Your privacy is important to us.  We will handle all personal information you provide to us in accordance with this policy and the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 (“Privacy Act”).

This Privacy Policy sets out our, and your, rights and obligations in relation to any personal information you provide to us, including when you participate in our Projects (as defined below), or access and use our website or social medial sites (“Online Platforms”).  By using our Online Platforms, or by otherwise providing us with your personal information, you are agreeing to be bound by the terms of this policy.

If you are under the age of 18, you may participate in our Projects (as defined below), or access and use our Online Platforms with permission from a parent or legal guardian.  If you are a parent or guardian of a person under the age of 18 that is participating in our Projects, or accessing and using our Online Platforms, you must agree to this Privacy Policy on your child’s behalf. By allowing your child to participate in our Projects (as defined below), or access and use our Online Platforms, you agree to be bound by the terms of this Privacy Policy.

We may update this policy from time to time. Unless stated otherwise, any changes to the privacy will take effect immediately from when it is posted on our website. By continuing to use our Online Platforms or participate in, or to permit your child to participate in, Projects, you agree to be bound by the terms of our latest policy. If you do not agree with this policy, you must not use or access our Online Platforms or participate in, or permit your child to participate in, Projects.

1. Collection

1.1 We may collect the following types of information about you when you participate in our Projects or access and use our Online Platforms:

(a) personal information provided by you as part of any of our projects that you choose to participate in (“Projects”);

(b) personal information provided by you at the time of subscribing to our mailing list, which includes, but is not limited to, your name, address and email address;

(c) User Generated Content which you upload to our Online Platforms; and

(d) information about the way you use our Online Platforms, interact with the content provided to you through our Online Platforms. This information is anonymised and aggregated and does not relate to or identify you personally.

1.2 We may collect and hold personal data about you from the following sources:

(a) you, at the time of participating in any Projects;

(b) you, at the time of subscribing to our mailing list;

(c)  through your interaction with our team, such as by email;

(d) through cookies (see clause 4 below); and

(e)  provided by third parties authorised by you.

2. Use

Any personal information you provide may be used for the following purposes:

(a) to allow you to participate in Projects, and access and utilise our Online Platforms;

(b) to administer and manage our Projects and Online Platforms;

(c) to send you emails that you have subscribed to through your nominated email address;

(d) to monitor, develop and improve our Online Platforms, and ensure that the content on our Online Platforms is presented in the most effective way;

(e) to investigate any complaints relating to the misuse of our Online Platforms;

(f) to update your preferences as requested or to respond to any questions or comments you have sent to us;

(g) on an aggregated or anonymised basis (i.e. in a way that doesn’t identify you) to analyse and identify patterns and trends, commercialise, and use the full benefit of that analysis;

(h) to comply with our legal obligations;

(i) to protect and/or enforce our legal interests, including defending any claim; and

(j) for any other purpose authorised by you.

We will retain your personal information as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the purposes for which we collected the information.

3. Disclosure of information

We do not share any personal information we hold about you to any third party, unless any of the following limited circumstances apply:

(a) Where we have your consent to do so.

(b) Where we need to disclose personal information to satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or government request.

(c) Where the personal information is anonymised, to any other third party.

4. Cookies and Tracking

We may use cookie files containing information that can identify the computer you are working from. A cookie file is anonymous and is only used to identify visits from the same web browser.  We may use the information generated by cookies to track traffic patterns to and from our Online Platforms.  If you access our Platforms through web browser, you can choose to refuse cookies by turning them off in your browser or deleting them from your hard drive.  You do not need to have cookies turned on to use our Online Platforms but turning them off may affect your experience of parts of our Online Platforms.

5. Third party terms

Our Online Platforms may contain third party links which may not follow the same privacy policies that we adopt.  For example, our related social media sites, such as Instagram, are governed by their own terms and conditions and policies.  We recommend that you check any relevant privacy policies before providing your personal information to any third party.

6. Holding, correcting and updating

Any personal information that you provide to us will be collected and held by us in New Zealand, and by our hosting providers (some of whom may be located outside New Zealand).  You have the right to access or correct personal information that we hold about you, at any time and as often as necessary.  If you want to access or correct your information, please contact us via megan@handtoheartproject.com

We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal information from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered or disclosed.  As no data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure, we cannot ensure the security of any information you transmit or receive through our Online Platforms.
